Incident Overview
On 4 December 2012, at approximately 1618 local time, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, registered as VH-VZL, was conducting a takeoff run when a significant wind shift occurred. This wind shift degraded the aircraft's takeoff performance.
Crew Actions
The flight crew responded by applying full power and continued with the takeoff. There was no damage to the airplane and no injuries were reported.
Investigation
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is conducting the investigation into this incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has appointed an Accredited Representative to assist the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, as the State of Manufacture and Design of the airplane.
