What happened
On December 12, 2012, at approximately 10:30 local time, a Piper PA-34-200T, registered as HK4477G, crashed into rising mountains near La Cuchilla, in the vicinity of Zulia, Norte de Santander, Colombia.
The aircraft was operating under visual flight rules for a flight originating from Camilo Daza International Airport (SKCC) in Cucuta, Colombia, with a destination of Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport (SKBQ) in Barranquilla, Colombia. At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing instrument meteorological conditions (IMC).
The crash resulted in 4 fatal injuries, involving the Colombian commercial pilot and three passengers.
