What happened
On June 16, 2013, at approximately 0950 UTC, a Beechcraft Model 58, registration G-CIZZ, crashed into mountains near Albenga, Italy. The aircraft, operated by Bonanza Flying Club, had departed from Albenga Airport (LIMG) and was en route to Troyes-Barberey Airport (LFQB) in France.
According to reports from Italian authorities, the aircraft impacted terrain during the initial climb phase following takeoff. At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) with visibility of 10 statute miles, and the surrounding mountains were obscured by clouds. The impact resulted in 1 fatality and the total destruction of the airplane.
