Incident Overview
A glider conducting a local training flight experienced an overrun and subsequent impact with trees at the departure end of the runway. The flight instructor had simulated a spoiler and altimeter failure during the landing approach. Sequence of Events
During the landing attempt on runway 27, which is a turf runway measuring 2,800 feet in length and 150 feet in width, the glider was unable to stop within the runway boundaries. It continued beyond the departure end and collided with trees. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the right wing.
