Accident Details
The pilot reported that during the takeoff roll to the south, his attention was diverted by a helicopter operation occurring at the south end of the airport. Around that time, he observed the airplane yaw and subsequently applied an overcorrection. The airplane then exited the right side of the runway and swerved back to the left.
Damage
As a result of the excursion, the right wing and right elevator impacted the ground and were substantially damaged.
