Accident
On September 17, 2013, at approximately 0523 Universal Time, an experimental amateur-built Lancair, bearing Canadian registration C-FXCK, collided with terrain while maneuvering near Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. At the time of the accident, the airplane was participating in an aerobatic exhibition. The pilot and passenger on board were fatally injured, and the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
Investigation
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) is conducting the investigation into the accident. As the State of Manufacture of both the airplane and its engine, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. accredited representative to assist the CAAC in its inquiry. All further inquiries regarding this accident should be directed to the CAAC's Aircraft Accident Investigation Division, Northern Regional Administration in China.
