Accident
On November 28, 2013, at approximately 0630 UTC, a SAAB 2000 twin-engine turboprop aircraft, registration HB-IZW, suffered an engine failure shortly after takeoff in Switzerland. The aircraft was climbing out when the incident occurred. The exact location of the event was not disclosed.
The aircraft was carrying 2 pilots, 1 crew member, and 25 passengers, totaling 28 occupants. No injuries were reported among any of the individuals on board. Additionally, no damage to the airplane was recorded.
Investigation
The investigation into the engine failure is being conducted by the Swiss Accident Investigation Board (SAIB), which has jurisdiction over the incident. Under Annex 13 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the United States, as the State of Design for the SAAB 2000, has appointed an accredited representative to participate in the investigation.
