Accident Details
On February 18, 2014, at approximately 1315 universal coordinated time, a Robinson R22-BETA helicopter, Brazilian registration PT-YFV, was destroyed when it impacted water near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The aircraft was engaged in a local training flight that had originated from Jacarepaguá–Roberto Marinho Airport (SBJR), near Rio de Janeiro. Both the flight instructor and the student pilot on board were fatally injured.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Aeronautical Accident Prevention and Investigation Center (CENIPA) of Brazil.
