Accident Details
On February 25, 2014, at 2055 universal coordinated time, a Hughes 369D helicopter, registration ZK-IQQ, was substantially damaged during an autorotation and landing near Moonlight Creek, New Zealand. The aircraft was owned by Heli Tours Limited and operated under New Zealand civil regulations.
Sequence of Events
The main rotor blades contacted and severed the tailboom at the conclusion of the autorotation. The pilot and two passengers were not injured.
