Incident Overview
On March 4, 2014, a Bombardier DHC-8-400 aircraft operating a flight from LFVB to EPRZ experienced an in-flight incident. During the en route portion of the flight, the crew received two warnings: "WSHLD CTRL" and "WSHLD HOT." The warnings indicated a problem with the windshield heating system.
Crew Actions and Decision
Assessing the situation, the crew determined that no icing conditions were present and decided to continue the flight. In coordination with the Maintenance Control Center (MCC) and flight coordinators, the decision was made to land at Krakow Airport (EPKK). Krakow was chosen because it had the necessary technical support to address the issue.
Landing and Outcome
The aircraft landed safely at Krakow, where maintenance personnel were available to inspect and rectify the windshield heating malfunction. All 32 occupants on board were uninjured, and no damage to the aircraft was reported.
