Event Sequence
The pilot reported that during the landing and rollout, the aircraft was traveling faster than desired at the normal turnoff point. Consequently, the pilot continued to the next turnoff. While executing the turn, the pilot applied the brakes, raised the flaps, and pushed in the carburetor heat control. At that moment, the pilot realized the aircraft was not stopping, so he applied more braking pressure. However, the aircraft did not slow down or stop.
Before the pilot could move his feet higher onto the toe brakes, the aircraft departed the runway surface onto bumpy ground. It then headed over a bank and nosed over.
Damage
The wings, vertical stabilizer, and rudder sustained substantial damage.
Mechanical Condition
The pilot reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the aircraft that would have precluded normal operation.
