What happened
On September 8, 2014, at approximately 2120 UTC, a Cessna 182P, registered as HK-1921, was involved in an accident near Mitu, Colombia. The aircraft had departed from Fabio Alberto León Bentley Airport (SKMU) and was en route to Tapurucuara Airport (MUR).
Roughly one minute after takeoff, the aircraft's engine lost power. The pilot attempted to return to the departure airport but was unsuccessful, resulting in the aircraft ditching into the Vaupes River. The impact caused substantial damage to the aircraft.
The accident resulted in 1 fatality, 1 serious injury, and 1 minor injury.
