Incident Overview

Pilot Account
The pilot reported that after dispersing a load, he returned and landed uneventfully on runway 5. During that landing, the wind was from the west-northwest at approximately 9 knots with gusts to 16 knots. He then loaded ant bait and taxied out for another takeoff.
During the takeoff roll, about 600 to 800 feet down the runway, the pilot stated he "really got hit with a gust" estimated at 20 knots. At the time of the gust, the tail wheel had not yet been raised from the runway. He indicated that he lost directional control, resulting in a ground loop. The airplane weather vaned, struck the edge of the runway, and bounced before coming down with sideload, causing damage. The pilot attempted to correct with rudder and brake but was unable to regain control. He stated that there was nothing wrong with the airplane that caused the accident.
Meteorological Conditions
A surface observation taken at the accident airport approximately 5 minutes before the incident indicated variable wind from 280 to 340 degrees at 7 knots.
