Incident Overview
On December 6, 2014, at approximately 10:30 UTC, a Yakutia Airlines Boeing 757-236PCF, registration VQ-BPY, suffered a decompression event and the opening of its cargo door shortly after departure. The occurrence took place about four minutes after the aircraft took off from Magadan, a city in the Russian Federation.
Investigation
The investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Department for Inspection of Flight Safety of the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation. As the state of manufacture of the aircraft, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has appointed an accredited representative to participate in the probe.
