Event Description
A pilot reported that during landing, the airplane touched down on the runway initially but then became airborne again. The pilot subsequently retracted the flaps, and the airplane touched down a second time. After the second touchdown, the pilot applied maximum braking, but the airplane was unable to stop within the remaining runway length.
Outcome
The airplane overran the end of the runway, impacting an embankment and clipping the top of a fence. The fuselage sustained substantial damage as a result of the collision.
Pilot Report
The pilot provided a statement to a Federal Aviation Administration aviation safety inspector, detailing the sequence of events. The pilot reported that there were no pre-impact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation.
