Accident Overview
On September 26, 2015, at 1138 universal coordinated time, a Piper PA-28 and a Reims F172 collided in flight over Sandstedt, Germany. Both aircraft were destroyed in the collision.
Aircraft and Occupants
The Piper PA-28, German registration D-EBVM, was occupied by the pilot. The Reims F172, German registration D-EGJA, was occupied by the pilot and two passengers. All four individuals sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the German government. The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (Bundesstelle fuer Flugunfalluntersuchung, BFU) is responsible for the inquiry.
