Accident Overview
A pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane experienced a nose-over during the landing roll at an airport. The pilot reported that after takeoff, she remained in the airport traffic pattern and subsequently landed. During the landing roll, she applied too much brake pressure, causing the airplane to nosed over.
Damage
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the right wing strut. No other damage to the airframe or engine was mentioned.
Pilot Report
The pilot stated that there were no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation. The accident sequence was initiated solely by the pilot's brake application.
Sequence of Events
According to the pilot, she took off and remained in the traffic pattern. The landing was otherwise normal until the point of applying brakes during the landing roll. The excessive brake pressure led to the nose-over event.
