What happened
On November 11, 2015, at approximately 1755 UTC, a Robinson R66, registered as PR-EDL, was performing an emergency autorotation near the Sirinhaem Municipality in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil. The flight had departed from Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport (SBRF) in Imbiribeira, Brazil, and was enroute to Cucau, Brazil.
Upon touchdown, the main rotor blades made contact with the aircraft, causing the tail boom to separate. The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the event. The pilot and passenger were not injured.
