What happened
On November 17, 2015, at approximately 1140 UTC, a Bell 206L4 helicopter, registration YN-ISA, crashed into the San Juan River near San Carlos, Rio San Juan, Nicaragua. The aircraft, operated by Helicopteros de Nicaragua (Helinica), was in the originating phase of flight when the impact occurred. Witnesses at the scene reported the presence of dense fog in the area at the time of the accident.
The crash resulted in 3 fatal injuries, as the pilot and three passengers were killed. The helicopter was destroyed upon impact.
