Incident Overview
The pilot of a tail-wheel equipped airplane reported that the aircraft nosed over during the landing roll at an unpublished airstrip. The pilot stated that he performed a 3-point touchdown, held the flight controls full aft, and applied brakes. As the airplane continued its landing roll, the pilot observed trees ahead and increased brake pressure. At that moment, the nose tilted forward and the airplane nosed over.
Damage and Inspection
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the vertical stabilizer and the left wing. The pilot reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation. No other issues with the aircraft were noted.
