Accident Overview
On December 12, 2015, at approximately 1100 coordinated universal time, a Bell-206 helicopter with Argentinian registration LV-VFD was destroyed during a low-altitude cruise flight over a reservoir. The helicopter struck the water for undetermined reasons and subsequently sank in approximately 200 feet of water. The pilot and passenger sustained fatal injuries.
Location
The accident occurred over a reservoir situated in the mountains near Potrerillos, Argentina, at an elevation of approximately 6,000 feet above sea level.
