What happened
On July 8, 2015, a Piper PA-34-220T Seneca V operated by Solid Security sp. z o.o. landed at Warsaw Chopin Airport (EPWR). Following the completion of the landing roll at 14:49 UTC, the aircraft experienced a tire burst. Due to the nature of the failure, the aircraft was unable to vacate the runway under its own power.
As a result of the incident, the runway was blocked, necessitating immediate notification of relevant air traffic and airport services, including DOPL, LSP, APP EPPO, and SUP ATM. Other aircraft prepared for departure were notified that the runway would be unavailable for at least 15 minutes. The aircraft was successfully cleared from the runway at 15:25 UTC.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted by the aircraft operator. The inquiry focused on the circumstances surrounding the tire failure and the subsequent impact on airport operations.
