What happened

On January 4, 2016, at approximately 1356 UTC, a Cirrus SR20, registered as G-ZOGT, disappeared while flying over the North Sea. The aircraft was performing a non-scheduled personal flight from Birmingham Airport (EGBJ) in England to Osnabruck-Atterheide Airport (EDWO) in Germany.

At the time of the disappearance, the pilot was operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), though the pilot had reported fog, and instrument meteorological conditions were prevailing. The aircraft disappeared from radar during the enroute phase of the flight. Wreckage was later located in the water approximately 4 nautical miles west of Egmond aan Zee, The Netherlands. The pilot is missing and presumed dead following the 1 fatal accident.
