Incident Details
The pilot reported that he was practicing touch-and-go landings. Upon touchdown, the airplane veered to the right. The pilot applied left rudder input, but the correction was excessive, causing the airplane to veer to the left. The pilot then applied right rudder, again excessively, resulting in a ground loop to the right. The ground loop caused the airplane to depart the runway surface.
Landing Gear and Wing Damage
As a result of the ground loop, the left main landing gear collapsed. Subsequently, the left wing impacted the ground. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left aileron.
Pilot Statement Regarding Mechanical Condition
The pilot reported that there were no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation.
