What happened
On January 20, 2016, at approximately 1910 UTC, an Air Tractor AT401B, registered as PT-WFX, was involved in a fatal accident in the Londrina Municipality, State of Parana, Brazil. The aircraft was performing a ferry flight from Londrina Airport (SSOK) to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Immediately after departing runway 10, the aircraft suffered a total loss of engine power. The pilot attempted a sharp turn back toward the airport at a low altitude, during which the airplane struck a motor vehicle traveling on the highway near the approach end of runway 28. The impact and subsequent post-crash fire destroyed both the aircraft and the vehicle.
The accident resulted in 6 fatalities among the occupants of the motor vehicle and 2 serious injuries to the vehicle's occupants. The pilot of the aircraft sustained 1 serious injury.
