Accident Details
On January 27, 2016, at approximately 1747 local time, a McDonnell-Douglas MD-600N helicopter, registered in Kazakhstan as UP-MD004, impacted terrain under unknown circumstances. The helicopter was registered to LLP Svinestroy and operated by JSC Aspan.
The flight had departed from Ucharal and was bound for Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan. Prior to the accident, the pilot requested air traffic control to descend to 500 meters. The wreckage was located 18 kilometers from the intended destination.
Fatalities
The pilot and four passengers on board were fatally injured in the accident. No survivors were reported.
Investigation
The investigation into the accident is under the jurisdiction of the Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Administration of Kazakhstan, part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Further information may be obtained from the investigation authorities.
