On April 28, 2016, at approximately 1330 UTC, a Sikorsky S76A, registered as PR-EMR, was performing an enroute flight from Benedito Lacerda Airport (SBME) in Macae, Brazil, to an offshore oil platform. During the flight near the Campos dos Goytacazes Municipality in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the crew received a fire indication.

In response to the indication, the pilot performed a precautionary shutdown of the right engine. Shortly after this procedure, the aircraft experienced a loss of power in the left engine. The crew performed an emergency landing, which resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft. All eleven people on board, including the pilot, copilot, and nine passengers, were not injured.
