Accident Details
On July 16, 2016, at approximately 1240 hours UTC, a Robinson R-22 Beta helicopter, registered EC-IGG, sustained substantial damage after impacting the Valmayor Reservoir near Valdemorillo, Madrid, Spain. Witnesses reported that the helicopter became entangled with a power line before the crash. The helicopter was on a local flight that had departed from Cuatro Vientos Airport (LECU) in Madrid. The pilot and one passenger on board were fatally injured.
