Accident Summary
During the approach to land, the pilot was forced to use a taxiway because a larger airplane was occupying the runway for passenger offloading. While on final approach, the pilot became distracted by younger passengers in the rear seats and noticed that the airplane's rate of descent was higher than normal.
Landing
The pilot advanced the throttle to full power in an attempt to arrest the descent, but reported that there was insufficient time to recover. The airplane subsequently landed hard.
Damage
While taxiing to the parking position, the pilot realized the airplane had sustained substantial damage. The rudder controls were jammed because the nose gear had impacted the firewall. Despite this, the pilot was able to taxi the airplane to a parking spot without further incident.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that there were no pre-impact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation.
