Destruction of a Piper PA-34-200T at Alexander the Great Airport, Skopje, Macedonia

Overview and Circumstances of the Accident On September 6, 2016, at approximately 1540 local time, a Piper PA-34-200T multi-engine airplane, bearing the German registration D-GLLW and serial number 34-8070170, was destroyed after impacting terrain while on an instrument landing system (ILS) approach to Runway 34 at Alexander the Great Airport (LWSK) in Skopje, Macedonia. The aircraft had departed from Treviso Airport (LIPH) in Milan, Italy, with Skopje as its destination. All six persons on board were fatally injured in the accident. The investigation was conducted under the jurisdiction and control of the government of the Republic of Macedonia.
