What happened
On September 9, 2017, at 19:18 local time, a Piper PA-28-161, registered as EC-JCI, was taxiing at Sevilla Airport in Sevilla, Spain. During the taxi phase, the aircraft experienced a brake failure, which caused the airplane to depart from the taxiway.
Following the departure from the taxiway, a fire ignited on the right main landing gear and the wing. The flight, which originated from Sevilla Airport, was operating under visual meteorological conditions (VMC). There were no injuries to the pilot or the single passenger on board, though the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
