What happened
On October 16, 2016, at 1937 UTC, a Piper PA-23-250 aircraft, registered OB-2039, was conducting a flight from Trujillo International Airport (TRU) to Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM). During the flight, the pilot experienced a loss of manifold pressure and a simultaneous increase in oil temperature in the left engine.
In response to the engine issue, the pilot shut down the left engine while in flight and declared an emergency. The aircraft subsequently performed a precautionary landing at Jaime Montreuil M. Airport (CHM) in Chimbote, Peru. The aircraft sustained no damage during the landing, and both the pilot and the passenger were not injured.
