Tailwheel Airplane Runway Excursion and Nose-Over

Incident Description and Damage Assessment A pilot operating a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that the aircraft veered to the right during the landing roll. The pilot stated that he attempted to correct the veer but was unsuccessful. The airplane continued moving to the right and exited the runway. During the runway excursion, the airplane nosed over. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the right forward lift strut and the empennage. ## Mechanical Condition The pilot reported no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
