What happened
On December 3, 2016, at approximately 1750 UTC, a Schempp Hirth Ventus-2C motorized glider, bearing registration LV-EDB, was performing soaring maneuvers near San Carlos de Bolivar, Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the maneuvers, the left wing of the aircraft detached from the fuselage. The aircraft subsequently impacted the terrain, resulting in substantial damage to the glider. The pilot sustained 1 fatal injury.
The flight was conducted by a private individual under Argentine flight regulations. The investigation into the accident was conducted by the Junta de Investigaciones de Accidentes de Aviación Civil (JIAAC).
