Notification
The Junta de Investigacion de Acidentes de Aviacion Civil (JIAAC) of Argentina has notified the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an incident involving a Boeing 737-800. The event occurred on February 13, 2017.
International Cooperation
In response, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the JIAAC investigation. This appointment is made under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which governs international aviation accident and incident investigations. As the State of Manufacturer and Design of the airplane, the United States participates to provide technical expertise on the aircraft's design and manufacturing.
Investigation Leadership
The JIAAC leads the investigation and will release all investigative information. The NTSB's role is supportive, ensuring that the investigation benefits from the knowledge of the aircraft's manufacturer and design. Such coordination is standard practice under international aviation safety protocols.
