Incident Overview
On February 23, 2017, an Airbus A320, bearing Brazilian registration PT-MZY, experienced a loss of power in its right-hand engine during takeoff from São Paulo airport. The event prompted the flight crew to reject the takeoff, and the aircraft temporarily departed the runway before coming to a stop.
Investigation
The Brazilian Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Centro de Investigaçáo e Prevençáo de Acidentes Aeronauticos – CENIPA) is conducting the investigation into the incident. As the engines were manufactured in the United States, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. Accredited Representative under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 to assist the Brazilian authorities.
