Accident Overview
A solo student pilot experienced an unusual event during the landing flare phase of a flight, leading to a propeller strike and substantial damage to the airplane's fuselage. The incident occurred while the pilot was attempting to land on runway 6.
Pilot Report
The student pilot stated that during the landing flare, he "felt a big push from behind." This unexpected force caused the airplane to pitch or yaw, resulting in the propeller contacting the ground and causing structural damage to the fuselage. The pilot further reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

A review of recorded data from the automated weather observation station located on the airport indicated that at the time of the accident, the wind was from 190° at 3 knots. The airplane was landing on runway 6, which aligns with a westerly or southwesterly wind direction. The wind conditions were relatively light and likely within normal operating limits.
