What happened
On March 27, 2017, at approximately 0345 Universal Time, a Robinson R22 helicopter, registered ZK-IHA, crashed into forested terrain. The accident occurred roughly 5.5 miles north of Reefton, West Coast, New Zealand. The flight was being conducted for the purpose of a private hunting trip.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained 1 fatal injury. The helicopter sustained substantial damage during the impact.
