Accident Details
On March 27, 2017, at approximately 0345 Universal Time, a Robinson R22 helicopter, registered ZK-IHA, impacted forested terrain about 5.5 miles north of Reefton, on the West Coast of New Zealand. The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the helicopter, was fatally injured in the accident. The helicopter itself was substantially damaged. The flight was reportedly conducted for private hunting purposes.
