What happened
On May 20, 2017, a Robinson R22 helicopter, registered ZS-RIT, was involved in an accident in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The accident resulted in 1 fatality.
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) conducted the investigation. Because the helicopter and engine were manufactured and designed in the United States, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the SACAA investigation under ICAO Annex 13 protocols.
