Accident Overview
At 1824 coordinated universal time on June 1, 2017, a Piper PA-24-140, Guatemalan registration TG-GYV, was destroyed when it impacted mountainous terrain under unknown circumstances near Volcán de Agua, Departamento de Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. The aircraft was owned by a private individual. The flight had originated from San José, Guatemala, with a destination of Ciudad, Guatemala. The instructor pilot was fatally injured, and the extent of the student pilot's injuries is unknown.
