What happened
On June 14, 2017, at approximately 1045 UTC, an MD Helicopter 3ability 369E, registered as ZT-RAC, performed a forced landing near Bultfontein, South Africa. The flight was being conducted under South African flight regulations.
There were no injuries reported among the pilot and two passengers following the event. The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the landing.
The investigation
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Accident and Incident Investigations Division is conducting the investigation. Because the United States is the state of manufacture and design for both the helicopter and the engine, the NTSB appointed a US Accredited Representative to assist the SACAA under ICAO Annex 13 provisions.
