A pilot failed to retract the landing gear of a float-equipped airplane prior to landing on water, resulting in substantial fuselage damage.

What happened

On July 13, 2017, a Progressive Aerodyne Inc Searey LSA, registration N108SR, was involved in an accident in Spicewood, Texas. The pilot was operating the amphibious, float-equipped aircraft in visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 180 degrees at 7 knots.

During the landing sequence, the pilot failed to retract the landing gear before the aircraft contacted the water. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage. There were no injuries reported following the event.
