What happened
On August 8, 2017, at approximately 1513 UTC, a Cessna U206G, registration 8R-GPR, was involved in a forced landing near Eteringbang Airstrip (SYET) in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni Region of Guyana. The aircraft was operating a commercial cargo flight from SYET to Ekereku Bottom Airport (SYEK).
Shortly after takeoff, while flying between 200 and 300 feet above the ground, the pilot reported a decrease in engine RPM and a subsequent loss of altitude. At the time of the event, the fuel selector was set to the right tank, which contained approximately 25 gallons of fuel. The pilot attempted an off-airport forced landing, impacting trees within a rainforest approximately one mile from the departure airstrip. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, and the pilot sustained one serious injury.
