What happened
On August 18, 2017, at 1400 local time, a Robinson R44 II, registration VH-LGN, was performing a descending turn at approximately 50 knots near Darwin Aerodrome, Australia. During this maneuver, the pilot reported that the aircraft began to vibrate. In an attempt to rectify the situation, the pilot tried to level the aircraft, but the vibration increased in intensity. Consequently, the pilot initiated a forced landing.
The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the event. There were no injuries reported for the pilot and the three passengers on board.
