Incident Overview
A solo student pilot was conducting a landing when the aircraft encountered a hard landing during the flare. The pilot reported feeling an updraft at that moment. The airplane bounced upon initial contact, after which the nose landing gear struck the runway. A second bounce occurred, and the pilot initiated a go-around. The student subsequently entered the traffic pattern and completed a landing without further incident.
Post-Landing Inspection
During taxi to the ramp, the student noted that the rudder pedals felt unusual. While covering the aircraft with the flight instructor, the student observed that the nose landing gear appeared abnormal.
