Landing and Initial Touchdown
According to the pilot, the airplane initially touched down on the first third of a wet grass runway. The landing was performed at 80 mph with 10° of flaps extended.
Bounce and Second Touchdown
Approximately two-thirds of the way down the runway, the airplane struck a bump and became airborne again. Upon the second touchdown, the pilot perceived insufficient remaining runway and applied the brakes.
Runway Excursion
As the end of the runway approached quickly, the pilot attempted to turn the airplane. However, the aircraft continued to slide off the runway, with the pilot noting that the brakes were locked.
Damage and Mechanical Status
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the airplane's firewall. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions that would have precluded normal operation.
