What happened
On November 8, 2017, at approximately 1750 UTC, a South African Airlink flight, operating a British Aerospace BAE-146 RJ85A with registration ZS-ASW, was in the cruise phase of flight. During this period, the aircraft experienced an uncontained release of turbine material from the No. 2 engine, which was a Honeywell LF507-1F turbofan. There were no injuries resulting from the event.
