Accident Details
The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that, during a wheel landing touch-and-go in crosswind conditions, the airplane began to "hop to the right and then to the left" as power was applied for takeoff. In response, the pilot applied "normal downward pressure to lift the tail and maintain a level attitude." However, the airplane continued to pitch forward and eventually nosed over on the runway.
Damage
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the vertical stabilizer and windscreen of the airplane.
Pilot Report
The pilot stated that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
