NTSB Appoints Representative for 2018 Ecuador Aircraft Accident

Incident Notification and Response On January 9, 2018, the government of Ecuador notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an accident involving an AYRES S2R airplane. The notification initiated the process for international cooperation in the investigation of the event. In accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the government of Ecuador in its investigation. This role is designed to provide technical support and ensure that the investigation adheres to international standards. The government of Ecuador retained primary responsibility for the investigation and the subsequent release of all investigative information.
