Incident Overview
On January 10, 2018, at 1132 local time, a Gulfstream 200 business jet, registration RP-C280, sustained substantial damage while landing at Legazpi City Airport in Albay, Philippines. The aircraft was owned by Asian Aerospace Corporation and operated under Philippine civil aviation regulations.
Occupants and Damage
The airplane was carrying two flight crew members and six passengers. None of the eight occupants were injured. However, the aircraft itself was substantially damaged.
Landing and Runway Excursion
The aircraft landed on runway 06, which was closed at the time. After touchdown, it veered to the right side of the runway and continued off the paved surface. The airplane came to rest approximately 75 meters from the edge of the runway and about 2,900 meters from the approach end of runway 06.
Investigation
The accident is under investigation by the Government of the Philippines, through the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). No probable cause has been stated in the preliminary information released. Further details may be obtained from CAAP.
